THUNDER BAY — Tbaytel is investigating an incident that saw a company employee riding in a work bucket on top of a moving Tbaytel vehicle.

The April 18 episode at May and Bethune Streets was captured on video and posted to Facebook.

The video shows the worker sitting in the bucket while it's in the horizontal resting position. He remains there as the Tbaytel van to which the device is mounted comes down Bethune before the driver turns in the intersection and proceeds along May.

Laura Foulds, communication coordinator for Tbaytel, issued a statement Monday.

"We have seen the video...We can confirm" that the individual seen riding in the bucket is a company worker, Foulds said.

She said "appropriate followup" will be conducted internally with the individuals involved in the incident.

"The safety of our employees is taken very seriously at Tbaytel. Comprehensive safety training is provided to all employees on a continual basis. Upon learning of this incident, we launched a full investigation.  We'll ensure that all of our staff are aware and educated, or re-educated, about all of our safety protocols," Foulds added.
