Sixty-year volunteer Peggy Brescia, a youthful 90 years young, spends some of her day helping out at the St. Joseph’s Hospital Gift Shop found in the front lobby of the hospital on Algoma Street. She loves to volunteer and meet people.

She certainly has the bubbly personality for it.

Peggy has developed many lasting friendships from volunteering and is happy to help raise funds for The Auxiliary to St. Joseph’s Care Group.

She believes the Auxiliary is a wonderful organization that is dedicated to helping enrich the lives of the clients of St. Joseph’s Care Group.

All of the funds raised through the sales in the gift shop, the Nevada tickets and special events held by the Auxiliary are donated to the Care Group.

The relocation of the gift shop to the front lobby of the hospital brings back fond memories for Peggy Brescia, who remembers when the gift shop first opened in 1969 and was called The Mantle. It was found in the same location it is in now.

Peggy Brescia has volunteered with other organizations within our community and states that with volunteering “the need is always there and it’s up to you to go out on your own and do it to help others.".

She is truly a dedicated and committed volunteer who has made a difference.
