Thunder Bay Police are looking for a woman suspect following an attempted robbery at the Polish Legion Friday.
The incident happened just before 5 p.m. at the building on South Court Street. Det. Sgt. Don Lewis said a young woman entered the kitchen area of the Legion just as the weekly sales of perogies and cabbage rolls was wrapping up.
Lewis said the suspect attempted to gain access to the cash register and then got into an altercation with a 73-year old female volunteer.
Another volunteer, a 61-year-old woman, was able to interrupt the attack. Lewis says a syringe was found on the scene, but police are still searching for the accused.
One of the volunteers received a small scratch on her face from the incident.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call the Thunder Bay Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
