THUNDER BAY -- While voter turnout as a whole was under the national average, numbers across the region are up over 2011.
The city averaged a 68.28 per cent turnout Monday across the two local ridings, slightly below the 68.49 per cent average that was the highest turnout across the country in more than 20 years.
In Thunder Bay-Superior North the number was 69.57, above the national average and well above the riding's 59.9 per cent turnout in 2011.
Thunder Bay-Rainy River saw 66.97 per cent of its eligible voters head to the polls, up from 59.4 in 2011.
Kenora saw a huge spike in 2015, from 58.8 per cent in 2011 to 72.5 per cent this time around.
