THUNDER BAY -- City crews spent the day working to fix a water main break that has closed off a portion of James Street.
The break occurred Wednesday afternoon near the Donald Street intersection.
Motorists have been forced to detour around the area as crews were working on it all day.
No residential water lines were shut off, but sewer and water officials recommend that if people do notice contamination in their water, to open a tap closest to the water meter until the water clears up. Repeat the process for cold and hot water taps throughout the home.
The problem should be fixed and the road reopened by the end of Friday.
