THUNDER BAY – Emergency responders rescued a person from the Neebing-McIntyre Floodway on Sunday.
In a media release issued by Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, police were on scene and identified a victim floating face up in the middle of the floodway.
The person appeared to be semiconscious.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue officials said a quick rescue was initiated with a firefighter in an immersion suit and tethered to shore swimming out to the person with a flotation device.
The person was unresponsive to verbal cues and was brought to shore using the tether line with police and fire.
After the person was brought to shore, they were assessed by paramedics and transported to hospital.
TBFR would like to remind the public to exercise caution when swimming and never swim alone.
