Water service restored in Mount Forest Boulevard area

Residents who notice discoloured tap water should take recommended steps to flush their pipes

THUNDER BAY — The city says water service to residences in the Mount Forest Boulevard area has been restored.

In an announcement Monday afternoon, the city said water service work had necessitated a shutdown of the water main feeding all customers north of Highway 61, west of Mount Forest Boulevard, and west of — and including — Mountain Road.

The statement didn't indicate how long the water supply had been turned off.

The city said residents may notice discolouration in tap water, and that if that happens they should follow these instructions:

  • do not open any hot water taps
  • open only one cold water tap (a tap with no filter system attached to it) and allow water to flow at a medium flow until it runs clear
  • once the single cold water tap is running clear, open all other taps including hot water taps, and flush until all water runs clear

Officials said running cold water taps for five minutes should clear any discoloured water, but if discolouration returns, the above steps should be repeated.

In the event the water still does not clear, residents are advised to notify Infrastructure and Operations Dispatch at 625-2195.
