Weapon-related charges laid after reported home break in

A Thunder Bay resident has been remanded into custody following an early morning incident on Saturday that has resulted in charges.

Police arrested a person for carrying a concealed weapon after they entered a home early Saturday morning and became involved in a physical altercation with the residents inside.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to a residential address in the 100 block of Ogden Street just after 5:40 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12 following reports of a break and enter involving a possible firearm.

When police arrived they located and took custody of a suspect.

An investigation revealed the accused, who was unknown to the occupants of the home, had entered the home and began shouting. This led to a physical confrontation between the accused and the residents.

Following a brief struggle the accused was found to be in possession of a concealed weapon, which was later confirmed to be a pellet gun.

Stephanie NEVALA, 30, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Carrying Concealed Weapon, and Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling.

They appeared in bail court on Sunday, Dec. 13 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
