THUNDER BAY – City police had their hands full during one of the more busy weeks of the year for crime.
The weekly crime report, made available by crimereports.com, shows that Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to more than 283 calls between Monday, April 25 and Sunday, May 1.
Among the nearly 300 reports include 38 assault cases, three vehicle thefts and five sexual assaults.
Police responded to about 165 cases south of the Harbour Expressway, with another 118 reports being made on the north side of the Harbour Expressway.
The more than 283 incidents reported last week is an estimate and does not include traffic cases.
South of the Harbour Expressway, some of the more serious incidents included:
• 24 assaults
• 5 break and enters
• 2 sexual assaults
• 16 thefts
• 7 thefts from vehicles
• 1 thefts of a vehicle
• 6 weapons charges
Meanwhile, north of the Harbour Expressway some of the more serious incidents included:
• 14 assaults
• 5 break and enters
• 3 sexual assaults
• 15 thefts
• 4 thefts from vehicles
• 3 thefts of a vehicle
• 3 weapons charges
The vast majority of cases city police responded to were listed as either liquor, disorder and property crime.
