Weekend weather dampens forest fire situation, 10 fires still active in Northwest

The cool, damp weather over the weekend was good news for the forest fire situation in the Northwest. Officials with Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources say there were no new confirmed fires, with 10 active fires in the region.

The cool, damp weather over the weekend was good news for the forest fire situation in the Northwest. 

Officials with Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources say there were no new confirmed fires, with 10 active fires in the region.  

The fire hazard ranges from low in the southern area of the region to high in the western section.   

As well, 143 fire personnel continue to work in Albert, and 74 in the Yukon.
