THUNDER BAY -- A candidate in last month's municipal election who was looking for a recount of the ballots, has now changed his mind.
Frank Scarcello finished just 45 votes behind longtime incumbent Joe Virdiramo in the Westfort Ward race.
Immediately following the election, Scarcello indicated he would go to the courts to try and gain a recount.
But after consulting with a lawyer, he has abandoned the effort.
He says he has been convinced that the chance of a change in the outcome was slim, and there was little point in pursuing the matter.
