THUNDER BAY -- Some less fortunate members of the community will have access to a good meal, thanks to some young chefs at a local high school.
A Grade 11 foods class at Westgate Collegiate Vocational Institute was hard at work Tuesday afternoon making 100 tuna sandwiches, which will be distributed by the Regional Food Distribution Association, along with some soup.
The classroom was part kitchen and part assembly line as the students worked diligently to make and package all the sandwiches during the 75 minute class. Student Calie Hill said not only does it feel great to help those in need, she and her classmates also learned a thing or two along the way.
Westgate is just one of a number of Lakehead high schools participating. as part of the school board's partnership with the RFDA.
