Saturday:
Partnered with the Municipality of Neebing, the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority is hosting the Little Trout Bay Fish Derby. The derby will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. First place prize is $1,000!
The Hub Bazaar is putting on a Sidewalk Sale Event on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a block of entrepreneurs selling their wares and enjoying the southside summer sunshine. Rain or shine at 507 Victoria Ave. E.
Story Time with Thunder Bay Drag Queens and Crafting with Queens will be held on Saturday at Waverly Resource Library. From 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. the story time features local drag artists, Lady Fantasia LaPremiere & Mz. Molly Poppinz reading stories and doing activities while fostering acceptance and appreciation of diversity. Following story time, from 3:30 to 4 p.m. there will be a crafting session led by TBay drag artists, Faux Rocious and Fairy Contagious as they create unique, fun and fabulous creations.
For the first time in the history of Thunder Bay, the Thunder Bay Malayalee Association (TBMA) is presenting a tug-of-war competition. First prize wins $1,001. The event starts at 3 p.m. at Vickers Park.
Sunday:
XTERRA Sleeping Giant will kick off at 8:30 a.m. The swimming portions of the duathlons and triathlons will start at Boulevard Lake with cycling and running continuing at Kinsmen Park. Trail runs will be held at Kinsmen Park starting at 2 p.m. Spectators are welcome at both venues.
Celtic Day will be held at Fort William Historical Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Join a celebration of culture, music, dance, hands-on activities, and great food! Featuring local pipe and drum bands, Highland dancers, and more.
The Pass Lake Historical Society will be celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the community of Pass Lake. Formal remarks and presentations commence at 1 p.m. at the Pass Lake Community Hall.
All Weekend Long:
Ribfest will be running all weekend at Marina Park. Open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, you won’t want to miss the mouth-watering ribs.
