THUNDER BAY -- About $2.5 million in grants is heading to city council Monday night.
Council will be asked to include this year's Community, Youth and Cultural funding program in the upcoming budget, which funds everything from Shelter House to the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra.
About 19 organizations are looking for approval this year.
The two largest recipients this year would be the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium, $716,770, and the Thunder Bay Historical Museum, $400,181.
A report to council also says that the orchestra could receive 50 per cent of its community funding grant this year before the city budget is approved, rather than the 25 per cent organizations usually receive in January.
That will only happen once administration review's the orchestra's financial situation and deems it necessary.
