ARMSTRONG, Ont. -- The long-serving chief of Whitesand First Nation is facing assault charges following a weekend altercation.
OPP officials say officers responded to a report of an altercation early Sunday morning.
Officers arrived to find three people had been assaulted. One individual was transported to the regional hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.
Allan Gustafson, 59, was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and one count of assault causing bodily harm.
He is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 9 to answer to his charges.
