WHITESAND FIRST NATION, Ont. - Ontario Provincial Police say an incident Monday on the Whitesand First Nation resulted in what they describe as a "serious" assault.
Officers from the Armstrong detachment were dispatched to a residence in the First Nation after a report of an assault involving a weapon.
Paramedics transported the victim to the Armstrong airport for transfer to an air ambulance, and the victim was flown to Thunder Bay for treatment of what are said to be non-life-threatening injuries.
A 23-year-old woman from Whitesand faces charges of Assault With A Weapon and Fail To Comply With A Probation Order.
She was held in custody for a video court appearance.
