Wind causing power outages throughout city (2 photos)

Up to 13 outages on Friday blamed on weather.

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Hydro says high winds and wet leaves on wires have led to multiple power outages across the city on Friday afternoon.

Spokeswoman Eileen Dias said there were 13 known areas affected by downed power lines and multiple reports of other service cables down.

“Because many outages have been isolated down to the immediate area of trouble or are concentrated in the rural areas, the number of customers affected is currently estimated to be under 1,000,” Dias said in a release.

Dias said the utility’s outage map page on the Thunder Bay Hydro website is the best way to track down current information on restoration of service.
