A wind chill warning for the Thunder Bay area remains in effect.
Environment Canada issued the weather warning as predicted wind chills from -40C to -45C are expected to continue Monday and into Tuesday.
The Environment Canada warning goes on to explain that another blast of Arctic air has spear into Northern Ontario, which has led to frigid temperatures and harsh wind chills.
Exposed skin can freeze within five minutes in these conditions.
The extreme cold is expected to remain until Wednesday, with forecasted nighttime lows of -29C and -27C for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Milder temperatures are expected to hit the region late this week, with daytime highs of -7C to -3C forecasted for Friday through Sunday.
