THUNDER BAY — The prospect of strong winds overnight in Thunder Bay has prompted Environment Canada to issue a Special Weather Statement for the city.
Meteorologists are predicting wind speeds up to 80 kilometres per hour Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
The statement says "a vigorous cold front" will sweep through the area, bringing northwesterly wind gusts of 70 or 80 kilometres per hour before weakening later Thursday morning.
Environment Canada says these winds may be capable of tossing loose objects and causing tree branches to break.
