THUNDER BAY -- A woman from Winnipeg is in the midst of a 40-day bicycle ride across much of Canada to raise money for cancer research.
Both of Katrina Olson's parents have been affected by cancer in the last two years and her family's hardships have inspired her to raise money and awareness for the disease. She made a stop at city hall in Thunder Bay Tuesday on what she calls the "Bare Your Teeth" bike tour from Winnipeg to St. John's.
Acting Mayor Larry Hebert said any individual can make a difference but coming together as a group is key to finding a cure.
Olson hopes to raise $10,000 with every penny being matched in a special agreement with the Canada Donor Impact program. She plans to make it to St. John's by mid-September.
