FORT FRANCES, Ont. – A Fort Frances woman faces a litany of charges after allegedly defrauding a youth soccer club of over $30,000.

Ontario Provincial Police began investigating the case around a year ago, said Const. Jim Davis, after receiving a complaint of fraud involving the Fort Frances Youth Soccer Club.

The allegations date back to 2017, police said.

On Sunday, the OPP announced the investigation had resulted in multiple charges against local resident Jennifer Anderson, 46.

According to a profile on her employer's website, Anderson had been a board member of the organization.

She now stands accused of criminal breach of trust, fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of forgery, and two counts of use, deals, or acts on forged document.

Anderson is the funeral director for a Fort Frances funeral home, according to a profile on its website, which notes she has been involved in numerous other charities in the region.

Davis was unaware of any other investigations involving the accused, he said Sunday.

Anderson is schedule to attend provincial court in Fort Frances on Dec. 29 to answer to the charges.
