Officials with the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service have charged a 21-year-old woman with second-degree murder.
The charge follows an incident that took place at the Kasibonika Lake First Nation.
Police say officers responded to a reported altercation in the community on Sunday at 10 p.m. A 22-year-old woman had been transported to receive medical treatment, and but later died from her injuries.
The OPP criminal investigations branch was called to assist in the investigation.
Both the accused and the victim are from Kasibonika Lake First Nation.
The cause of death is not being released, and the investigation is ongoing.
