Woman involved in auto-pedestrian crash succumbs to injuries

An 89-year-old woman has died in hospital following an auto-pedestrian collision last Thursday.

A pedestrian who was injured during a motor-vehicle collision on Thursday, March 4, 2021 has died.

Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service were dispatched to a parking lot in the 800 block of Red River Road just before 1:55 p.m. on that day following reports of a collision that had just occurred.

Paramedics with Superior North EMS and firefighters with Thunder Bay Fire Rescue were also dispatched.

Police learned an 89-year-old female pedestrian was injured as a result of the collision. She was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further treatment.

She later died as a result of the injuries she sustained during the motor-vehicle collision.

Next of kin has been notified. At the family’s request, the identity of the victim is being withheld.

The investigation remains ongoing.
