THUNDER BAY – Traffic will be limited on John Street Road this week due as crews complete work in the area.
Beginning Tuesday, John Street Road will be reduced to one westbound lane at Sunflower Street. Eastbound traffic will be detoured around the construction work area.
That work is estimated to take two days to complete, but timelines will depend on weather and other factors, the city said.
Next, work will shift to John Street Road between Lawrence Road and Community Hall Road.
During that time, that stretch of John Street Road will be fully closed, with traffic diverted around the work area. That’s expected to add several minutes of travel time for motorists, the city said.
That second phase of work is expected to take an additional two days to complete.
The city asks those travelling near the construction zone to use extra caution and obey all posted signs and detours.
The work involves installing connections for a new landfill forcemain, which transports partially treated leachate from landfill lagoons to the city’s sanitary sewer network, to ultimately be treated at the city’s water pollution control plant.
