RED ROCK, Ont. -- Ontario's Ministry of Labour is investigating a serious workplace accident at Red Rock.
One worker was taken to hospital for treatment after part of the old Norampac Mill collapsed on him Tuesday evening.
He was operating an excavator at the time, and debris fell onto the machine, trapping him inside under what one Red Rock resident described as about three feet of concrete.
The condition of the employee was not immediately available, but Red Rock Mayor Gary Nelson told tbnewswatch.com he was told the man had a cut on his leg.
Nelson also said he heard that it took emergency crews about two hours to free him.
The worker is employed by SLM Recycling.
The labour ministry says two inspectors are investigating the incident with the assistance of a ministry structural engineer.
