Yuk-Sem Won throws hat into Neebing Ward race

Two-time federal NDP candidate becomes the fourth person to file in Neebing, with the deadline for nominations coming on Friday.

THUNDER BAY -- A former two-time federal NDP candidate has filed to run in Neebing Ward. 

Yuk-Sem Won, who finished third in Thunder Bay-Rainy River in both the 2019 and 2021 elections, on Thursday announced she would seek a seat on Thunder Bay city council in the Oct. 24 municipal election. 

"I believe in advocacy, professionalism, respect and my community. I want to bring my experience, skills and voice to the Leadership of our City With integrity and passion. Thank you to my family and supporters who believe I can be part of the positive change we all strive to see in the coming years," Won said in a release. 

The seat is up for grabs, with incumbent Cody Fraser announcing he won't seek re-election. 

Won joins Shaun Kennedy, Debra Halvorsen and Greg Johnsen on the ballot in Neebing. 

The deadline to file is Friday at 2 p.m.
