THUNDER BAY — A Thunder Bay-based company working to develop a graphite deposit north of Highway 11, near Hearst, has changed its name.

Zenyatta Ventures says it has received TSX Venture Exchange approval to be listed as ZEN Graphene Solutions effective Wednesday, Jan.16.

In an announcement Tuesday, the company said the change reflects the company's decision to focus its development plans for the Albany Graphite Project on graphene nano-material.

It described graphene is "the most promising new material in modern times" for enhancing the mechanical, electrical and thermal properties of materials used in a broad range of industrial applications..

"New innovations are being announced by researchers around the world on a regular basis with market demand for graphene growing rapidly," the statement said.

According to the company, in the near future ZEN will source the equipment needed for graphene production and will begin working with partners on new technology development.
