The unemployment picture improved slightly in our area in the first full month of autumn. According to new numbers released by Statistics Canada, the jobless rate in this area was down to 6.3 per cent in October.

A multi-vehicle collision has led police to close Highway 11/17 between Kenora and Vermillion Bay. OPP on Thursday morning said icy conditions led to the collisions, which involved 14 tractor trailers. The incident occurred near Nelson Granite Road.
