VANCOUVER – A 14-run sixth inning proved too much to handle for the Port Arthur Nationals on Monday at the Canadian Little League Championship.

VANCOUVER – A 14-run sixth inning proved too much to handle for the Port Arthur Nationals on Monday at the Canadian Little League Championship.

The Nats (1-3), led the game 5-2 through five innings, but couldn’t hang on the decisive fifth, despite rallying for five runs of their own in their final turn at bat, and fell 18-10.

Kohl Johnson continued his hot-hitting way for the Thunder Bay-based Nationals, going 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBI.

Jack Pineau, who allowed four runs in 4.2 innings as the Port Arthur starter, doubled, homered and scored three times.

Annabelle Guay homered twice and drove in five for the Diamond Baseball Academy, the Quebec representatives.

Nathan Mercier and Louis-Felix Anderson also went deep for Team Quebec.
