THUNDER BAY – Make it an even dozen in the loss column without a win for the Thunder Bay Border Cats.
The host Cats’ bats were baffled Saturday night by the pitching of La Crosse Loggers starter Nick Raquet, who tossed an eight-inning, three-hit gem for the vistors, leading his side to a 4-0 win at Port Arthur Stadium.
It kept the Border Cats dubious start to the season alive and well, as they slipped to 0-12, unquestionably the worst futility streak to open a season in the team’s 14-year history.
The Loggers chipped away at a trio of Border Cats pitchers, scoring runs in the first and fourth off starter Brandon Langan, tagged with his third loss of the 2016 Northwoods League season.
Langan surrendered three hits and walked four batters before his outing was over.
Casey Danley scored twice for La Crosse.
The Cats (0-12) will host Eau Claire on Sunday.
