The Thunder Bay skip on Thursday improved to 3-0 at the Schumacher, Ont. championship, dropping fellow Lakehead skip Bryan Burgess 8-7 in the afternoon draw in a battle of unbeaten teams. Burgess fell to 2-1 and sits in a four-way tie for second.

In other Draw 3 action, Thunder Bay’s Jeff Currie beat Robbie Gordon 8-5 to improve to 2-1. Thunder Bay’s Dylan Johnston fell 8-5 to Copper Cliffs’ Mike Jakubo, while Thunder Bay’s Trevor Bonot picked up his first win of the week, knocking off Sault Ste. Marie’s Dan Lemieux 7-4.

Jacobs, the defending champion, skipped the event to represent Canada at the Olympic Games.

No Thunder Bay skip has represented Northern Ontario at the Brier since Scott Henderson in 2003.
