All-Stars remain undefeated at Big League championship

Kody Anton led the way with a 2-for-4, three RBI performance at the plate as the All-Stars hung on for a 12-9 win over the Cape Breton Dodgers, improving to 2-0.

Bryce Jorgenson and Nick Nigro, the winning pitcher in Friday’s opener, drove in two runs apiece for the Thunder Bay squad, who took an 8-3 lead after three innings, only to see the Dodgers tie it up with a five-run fourth.

Tyler MacKinnon was 3-for3 with a two-out, bases-clearing fifth-inning double and finished with three RBI for the Maritime representatives.

Starter Mitch Coulson earned the win, despite giving up eight earned runs over four innings of five-hit, five-walk ball.

Cape Breton reliever Patrick Lahey was saddled with the loss, the Dodgers second in two outings. 

Thunder Bay will look to improve its impressive run Sunday at 4 p.m. against British Columbia.
