THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Border Cats have added another Miami Hurricanes player to their 2017 roster.

The team earlier this week announced it had signed freshman outfielder Gabriel Lozada, who was born in Caracas, Venezuela and played high school ball at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

Lozada hit .281 with IMG, collecting three doubles and six RBI in 57 at bats. He also stole a team-leading 12 bases.

His head coach gushed over his skill set in a profile on www.power-showcase.com.

“Gabe is a phenomenal athlete with tons of upside as a player.  He is a fast twitch athlete with the ability to be a game changer/impact player. He has the ability to change the game with his speed/power combo and we know this is special to find in player.  Gabe has the ability to play both the SS and CF position because of his athleticism,” Callix Crabbe said.
