Badgers drop first-place Wolves in OT

Defenceman Dan Tanel scored 2:13 into the extra frame to hand the host Badgers a 4-3 win. Lakehead’s Andrew Wilkins, who also had an assist on Cody Alcock’s equalizer 1:15 into the third, had tied the game with less than four minutes to play in regulation.

Carson Dubchak, with his second of the season, netted the Wolves other goal, giving them their first and only lead of the night at the 11:38 mark of the final stanza.

Andrew Radjenovic, Jordan Giganc and Kaine Geldart scored for the Badgers (8-8-1).

The No. 5 Thunderwolves (13-3-1), suffered their first loss in overtime or a shootout this season, but maintained a one-point lead over Ryerson in the OUA West and actually gained ground on Western, who fell 3-2 to last place Laurier in regulation. Lakehead will take on Western in London, Ont. on Saturday night.
