Badgers rally to beat Wolves at home

A strong start had the Lakehead Thunderwolves in early control, but a slow finish sunk them back below .500.

A strong start had the Lakehead Thunderwolves in early control, but a slow finish sunk them back below .500.

Up by eight points in the opening quarter, the Wolves (7-8) stumbled the rest of the way, falling 67-56 to the host Brock Badgers Friday night.

Rookie recruit Jylisa Williams was held in check most of the night, hitting just four of 17 shots from the field for 11 points to lead LU’s offensive attack.

Katie Ulakovic had 10 points off the bench for Lakehead.

Nicole Rosenkranz, who fouled out in the fourth, led all scorers with 13 points off the bench for Windsor, who out-scored Lakehead 17-8 in the second quarter to take control of the match.

The sixth-place Wolves have a four-point cushion over Guelph in the OUA West for the final OUA women’s basketball playoff spot.
Brock jumped to 8-7 with the win.
