The Thunder Bay Border Cats eight-game losing streak is a thing of the past.
The Cats scored a season-high 16 runs Thursday night, led by Dylan Becker’s three-hit, five RBI performance, crushing the visiting Wisconsin Woodchucks 16-3.
Becker also scored three times, raising his 2013 total to 55 to set a new single-season standard for Thunder Bay, two more than Mike O’Neill managed in 2008.
Tyler Duplantis had two hits and six at bats and drove in a pair to up his team record to 53. Jason Vosler scored three times for the Cats, who took control of the contest in an 11-run fourth.
Cameron Wood lasted five innings, giving up six hits and two runs, to collect the win. Newcomer Mason Schiff tossed four innings of five-hit relief in his Border Cats debut and was credited with the save. Chad Kim left in the fourth and was charged with the loss after Thunder Bay chased him with seven runs.
