WILLMAR, MInn. -- The Thunder Bay Border Cats’ modest one-game winning streak came to a crashing halt on Friday.

A night after slamming the door shut on a 15-game losing streak to start the 2016 campaign, the Northwoods League team was back in the loss column again, downed 10-6 by the host Willmar Stingers.

Greg Lambert had a pair of run-scoring singles, driving in three, to lead Willmar (7-10) to the victory.

Brandon Langan lasted just seven outs on the mound for the Border Cats, surrendering four runs – only two of them earned – on two hits and two walks before being pulled.

Replacement Ben Hoffman fared little better, giving up three runs on five hits in 3.1 innings of mop-up duty.

Blake Stockhart, chased three batters into the sixth, earned the win, allowing four hits and just one run while striking out five and walking four.

Joe Gellenbeck drove in three on a 2-for-4 performance for the Border Cats. Robert Boselli continued his hot-hitting ways, collecting three hits in five trips to the plate.

The Cats (1-16), who trailed 7-1 through six innings, brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but Bobby Honeyman flew out to left with the bases loaded to leave the runners stranded.
