The Cats fell to the Mankato Moondogs 5-0 despite starting pitcher Cody Conners giving his team five scoreless innings. The lefthander allowed four hits with three walks and recorded two strikeouts.
Zak Miller (0-1) was handed the loss after he came into the game in relief of Conners. He gave up three runs after an inning-and-two-thirds of work.
The Border Cats will try to avoid the sweep in their three-game series against the Moondogs Friday night. Thunder Bay’s own Eric Brown (1-0) is set to take the mound for the Cats.
