THUNDER BAY -- The search for win No. 1 continues for the Thunder Bay Border Cats.

THUNDER BAY -- The search for win No. 1 continues for the Thunder Bay Border Cats.

It was a new opponent on Sunday, but the results were the same as they’ve been since the Northwoods League season began two weeks ago for the Cats – another loss.

This one, an 11-6 drubbing by the visiting Eau Claire Expres s at Port Arthur Stadium, ran Thunder Bay’s futility streak to 13 straight defeats for the winless Border Cats.

Trailing 4-0, the home side scored a pair in the third and two more in the fourth to even the score. But the Express slammed Cats starter Matt Murphy for four in the sixth, a bases-clearing double by Eau Claire’s Sam Hurt ultimately chasing him from the contest.

Riley Bernsdorf had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the Border Cats, who tagged Eau Claire starter Bryce Henlsey (W, 1-0) for four runs on six hits in five innings.

The two teams meet again on Monday night.
