Border Cats make first roster moves; Gellenbeck and Kay to return

THUNDER BAY - The Thunder Bay Border Cats will have at least two familiar faces this season. The Northwoods League club announced outfielder Joe Gellenbeck and pitcher Gunnar Kay will return to Port Arthur Stadium for the 2016 campaign.

THUNDER BAY - The Thunder Bay Border Cats will have at least two familiar faces this season.

The Northwoods League club announced outfielder Joe Gellenbeck and pitcher Gunnar Kay will return to Port Arthur Stadium for the 2016 campaign.

Gellenbeck, who is completing his junior season at Xavier University, had a .273 batting average while slugging two home runs and driving home 24 runs in 69 games last year.

Kay sported a 2-4 record in 16 games, making 12 starts, on the mound in 2014. He missed last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

The Border Cats open the season on May 31 as they host the Mankato MoonDogs at Port Arthur Stadium.
