It was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Lakehead Thunderwolves men’s hockey team.
Instead they’re among the top teams in the country and atop the OUA West.
The Wolves on Friday snapped a season-high two-game losing streak, Jeff Bosch stopping all 29 shots he faced to earn the 1-0 win over the host York Lions.
Kelin Ainsworth scored the lone goal of the game at 8:33 of the third, the power play marker his fifth of the season.
With the win the Thunderwolves (10-3-0) maintained a share of top spot in the conference, tied with Windsor and Toronto, both of whom have played more games than Lakehead.
The Wolves and Lions (8-7-0) will meet again on Saturday night to wrap up first-half play.
