Bound for Italy

Three members of the Thunder Bay Chill’s youth reserves program are heading overseas to train with one of the top youth academies in Europe.

Three members of the Thunder Bay Chill’s youth reserves program are heading overseas to train with one of the top youth academies in Europe.

Owen Hynna, Anthony Valente, and Evan Sawula were all selected to train with the youth academy of Italian squad F.C. Empoli. The trio will spend a week abroad and depart from Thunder Bay on Sunday.

The three players were selected through an identification camp held in the city earlier this month. The Chill established a partnership with Empoli last March to provide opportunities similar to this one to their youth programs.

Valente and Sawula are both members of the Chill’s under-15 reserve team that captured the Ontario Cup last weekend. Hynna is a member of the program’s under-17 squad.
