It really wasn’t much of a consolation for the Lakehead Thunderwolves men’s basketball team.
A day after being eliminated on the opening day of the national championship at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, the No. 6 Wolves on Saturday dropped an 87-65 decision to the No. 2 ranked Cape Breton Capers in the consolation semfinal.
Five Capers hit double digits in the victory, led by Ryan Roper’s 15.
Matt Nagy had a game-high 16 for the Thunderwolves, while Joseph Jones chipped in 14.
Lakehead trailed 16-8 after one quarter and 44-29 at the half.
