ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Thunder Bay Border Cats had the tables turned on them Sunday.
Thunder Bay fell 6-3 to the Rochester Honkers in Northwoods League action at Mayo Field, one night after downing Rochester by an identical score.
Jeff Campbell put the Honkers ahead for good in the bottom of the first, hitting a three-run long ball off Border Cats pitcher Michael Daley (L, 1-5).
That jack negated a two-run top half from the Border Cats (8-23), who were looking to build a rare second half winning streak.
Thunder Bay brought the contest to within one after a leadoff solo homer from Nick Studer in the fifth but Rochester put the icing on the cake with a pair in the home half of the seventh.
Studer, Christian Correa and Tyler Rolland each drove in a run for Thunder Bay.
Alex Schultz drove in two for the Honkers.
The Border Cats continue their final road trip of the season in Iowa Monday to take on the Waterloo Bucks.
