Cats drop back to .500 with 4-1 loss against La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wisc. -- Cullen Large doubled home a pair of sixth-inning runs to lead the La Crosse Loggers to a 4-1 win Thursday night over the Thunder Bay Border Cats.

LA CROSSE, Wisc. -- Cullen Large doubled home a pair of sixth-inning runs to lead the La Crosse Loggers to a 4-1 win Thursday night over the Thunder Bay Border Cats.

Joey Burris, who threw five innings of five-hit ball, was handed the loss, despite only giving up one run during his tenure on the mound. He walked four and struck out four and fell to 1-4 in 2016.

Nick Raquet didn’t give up an earned run, pitching into the eighth to pick up the win. He allowed an unearned run on seven hits.

Shortstop Andrew Fregia drove home the only Border Cats run of the night, singling home Anthony Brocato in the eighth.

The Cats fall to 1-1 in second half play, the Loggers improving to 1-1.

Gunnar Kay is expected to take the mound on Friday when the Border Cats host the Waterloo Bucks at Tbaytel Park.
