Scott Donley drove in the tying run in the top of the ninth, but the Thunder Bay Border cats wouldn’t hold off the host Alexandria Beetles on Wednesday afternoon.

Jimmy Pickens singled to right in the bottom of the 10th inning, salvaging a 4-3 win by the Beetles as the Cats (12-16) lost for the second straight day.

Kacy Kemmer surrendered three runs on 10 hits over seven innings, giving way to Mitch McQueen, who was tagged with the loss.
Alex Guilford picked up the win in relief for Alexandria, who got eight innings of four-hit ball from starter Jon Reed.

Matt Cooper is expected to take to the mound for the Border Cats when the two teams meet again on Thursday.

Thunder Bay returns home Saturday to take on the Rochester Honkers, a game scheduled to start at 7:35 p.m. to accommodate a post-game fireworks display.
