The Border Cats and their six all stars are on a roll.

Four players had multiple-hit nights and three drove in two runs, propelling the Cats to a second straight road win Monday night, a 9-1 thrashing of the Alexandria Beetles that evened their second-half record at 2-2.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first, the Cats took the lead in the second when Garret Houts homered off Beetles starter Eric Shannon (0-3).

They added a run in the third on Ben Scheffer’s first long-ball of the summer and went deep again in the seventh, courtesy of a Ryan Court blast, his third.

Thunder Bay put it away with a five-run eighth on a single by Evan Mistich, a bases loaded walk by Tanner Nivins, a single by Court, a hit by pitch to Scheffer and a fielder’s choice by catcher Will Thorp.

Corey Pappel (2-2) tossed 5.1 innings of four-hit ball to earn the win.

Paul Barton tossed 3.1 innings of scoreless three-hit ball to earn the save.

The Cats also learned Monday that a Northwoods League North Division high six of their players will be taking part in the all-star game next Tuesday in Eau Claire.

Mistich and Nivins will be joined on the squad by pitchers Garrett Yount, Drew Erwin, Zak Miller and Thunder Bay’s Eric Brown, who has a 3-1 record and a 1.50 ERA.
