Cats thrashed by Stingers

WILLMAR, Minn. -- After a strong start to the second half, the Thunder Bay Border Cats have returned to their losing ways. The Cats (3-6) were pounded 8-0 on the road on Thursday night by the Willmar Stingers, resulting in their fourth straight loss.

The Cats (3-6) were pounded 8-0 on the road on Thursday night by the Willmar Stingers, resulting in their fourth straight loss.

Dylan Woods homered and drove in five runs for the Stingers, playing in front of 1,048 at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Shane Shepard and all-star Andrew Fregia had a pair of hits apiece for the Border Cats.

Gunnar Kay took the loss giving up four runs in six innings on nine hits and three walks. Reliever Seth Gill was charged with the other four Willmar runs.

Blake Stockert tossed six innings of shutout ball to earn the win.
