Centennial Park is going to be a survivor challenge for local kids over the next two days.

As part of the city’s Supersports clinics, Survivor Day takes 30 children and splits them up into tribes like the poplar reality TV show in an effort to build teamwork skills.

“They go through all kinds of challenges and obstacle courses and different kinds of games,” super sport specialist David Tom said.

The tribe with the most points at the end of the camp will win prizes.

The city’s Super Sort program hosts clinics for everything from baseball to ultimate Frisbee throughout the summer. While it’s great to get kids to play outside, Tom said this camp is a little different than other clinics because of its focus on team building.

“It’s super good even just to build social interactions with the kids and different kinds of team activities,” he said.

This camp was sold out. Another is being held next month and spots are filling fast.

“It’s definitely a popular one and the kids love it,” Tom said.
