Chill claim fifth division title in six years

The Thunder Bay Chill’s defence is penetrable. But for a team that had only allowed three goals in 11 games, even a two-goal setback isn’t enough to fluster them.

The Thunder Bay Chill’s defence is penetrable.

But for a team that had only allowed three goals in 11 games, even a two-goal setback isn’t enough to fluster them.

The Chill got a pair of goals on Sunday from Dominic Roberts and a single from Juan Velez to eke out a 3-2 road win over the St. Louis Lions, a victory that earned them their fifth Heartland Division title in six years.

On Saturday the Heat nailed down a sixth-straight playoff berth, beating the Lions 1-0.

Jamie Lovegrove had both Lions goals, one in the 67th minute and a second in the 82nd.

The Chill remain on the road for another weekend, taking on division-rival Des Moines next weekend, before heading home to Chapples Park for a regular-season-ending pair against the Kansas City Brass.
